Autumn has officially started and horror movie season is approaching with Halloween on the horizon.
With that said, not all films watched during the fall months have to be scary. There are plenty out there from other genres that are great to watch in September, October and November, and I’ve included some of my favorites here.
Just as a note, one of my favorite parts of fall is the sport of football being played. However, I didn’t want to get this list too bogged down and have it become a sports movie column. I did write a piece about good college football films, though, which you can read here.
With that said, here’s the list.

In the last decade, Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, has appeared in eight Marvel Cinematic Universe films. After her career as a spy, she joined the superhero team the Avengers and was integral in several battles during the Infinity conflicts.
There have been a lot of superb spy moments in the Marvel movies, but these eight are my favorite. I’m of course going with eight because of spiders having eight legs. Seemed appropriate.

It’s almost the Fourth of July, a time of year to put out the stars and stripes while enjoying some BBQ and parades.
Since it’s an American holiday, it’s worth taking a look at American leaders from movies. Here are who I consider some of the best fictional presidents featured in movies.

After a rather chilly May, a heat wave has been hitting Minnesota in the month of June.
It has been hot here. Maybe not reaching the temperatures that our neighbors in the southern states experience, but up north, anything above 80F feels like a scorcher.
The warm weather certainly makes it feel truly like summer, though, and plenty of fine films have been set during the hottest season. This is a list including some of my favorite movies set between spring and fall.

The coronavirus pandemic delayed many things, including the release of several movies. Subsequently, my Top 10 list was also pushed way back to March.
This list does include a couple movies that were released in the last few weeks. However, like award organizations, I’m making an exception because of the pandemic. Plus, it’s not my fault that it took forever for “The Father” to come out.

We’re finally at the end of 2020. Hallelujah.
This year put us through a lot of changes, including how we watch movies. However, despite much more film viewing happening at home, one thing stayed consistent.
Like others years, 2020 offered some bad movies, some of which made it to the big screen and others only available in the living room. Here are my picks for the worst the year had to offer.

In day-to-day life, one’s home is a place to hang their hat and relax, or invite friends and family for an event.
In movies, though, a house can become a rather chaotic place, especially when it’s filled with different, and at times, conflicting personalities bouncing off each other. In certain flicks, it can even be a trap that one can’t escape from.
Considering most of us have been and will likely continue spending a lot of time at home because of the corornavirus pandemic situation, I decided to make a list all about films largely taking place at one house.

Before getting too deep into 2020, I wanted to take one last look back at the decade to appreciate my top 20 favorites that came out. The 2010s had some great films to offer audiences, and here are my picks for what I thought were the best.
As part of the list, I’ve included major awards each film has won. I understand that some have won several awards, and they’re mentioned throughout the list.

This is a series called “Best of the Decade.” It’s a list including 10 movies that I found to be the best in a specific genre from 2010-2019.
Whether films were part of established franchises or simply stand alone features, this past decade was pretty darn good for sci-fi. Here are some of my favorites from the past 10 years.

We’re closing in on the culmination of everything the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been leading up to since it started in 2008. Because “Avengers: Endgame” is right around the corner, here’s a look back at the rest of the MCU, ranked from bottom to top.
