Zoë Kravitz is joining the new on-screen adaptation of “Batman.”
According to Variety, Kravitz has been cast as the anti-heroine Catwoman in “The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves. Variety reports the movie, starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, will start pre-production soon with filming possible late this year or early 2020.
“The Batman” is set to open on June 25, 2021. This technically isn’t Kravitz’s first time as the character, as she voiced Catwoman in “The LEGO Batman Movie.”
She’s also recently starred in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and voiced a character in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Catwoman has appeared opposite of Batman several times in film. The character was portrayed by Lee Meriweather in 1966’s “Batman,” 1992’s “Batman Returns” by Michelle Pfeiffer and 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” by Anne Hathaway.
The last Batman/Bruce Wayne on film was Ben Affleck.
Reeve’s filmography includes “Cloverfield,” “Let Me In,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “War for the Planet of the Apes.”
